This was a chimney guard designed to avoid ropes from pinging the cap off the heater when underway. The yacht was a classic gaff cutter and the design needed to look suitable to match the rest of the deck equipment, due to this requirement a galvanised finish was selected as the rest of the deck fittings were also galvanised. First a model of the chimney itself was created in CAD, then the guard modeled in 3D, made into flat parts, sent for laser cutting and then welded.
