General CAD designing
We have a library of previously generated CAD models, but we will create a unique design in most cases. Below is a tiny fraction of all the designs we've made previously, but should provide an idea of the CAD model you can expect to receive as the project moves forward. Our CAD process is used to communicate to you what …
Hard Dodger
This was a custom design for an ocean going yacht. The design needed to include integrated solar panels for battery maintenance when on a mooring or in a marina, hand rails and an opening central window for ventilation in hot climates. Added complexity came from the need to keep the weight down as this was on a variable draft yacht …
Wind vane replacement parts
This work was to replace some broken mounts for a wind vane self steering system that was no longer produced. We took the old parts, created drawings and a specification for the new items and they were machined. This kind of work is something that we are particularly familiar with – there are a lot of old bits of equipment …
Classic yacht chimney guard
This was a chimney guard designed to avoid ropes from pinging the cap off the heater when underway. The yacht was a classic gaff cutter and the design needed to look suitable to match the rest of the deck equipment, due to this requirement a galvanised finish was selected as the rest of the deck fittings were also galvanised. First …
General stainless steel work
Below are a few examples of general stainless steel work we have undertaken. We created a pulpit, pushpits, handrails, stanchions and a boarding ladder for a small racing yacht, all from 22mm x 1.6mm wall thickness 316 stainless steel tubing. This was needed as the yacht needed to be a light as possible. More recent work has included handrails for …
Taylors heater flue heat shield
The Taylors paraffin heater is a really nice looking bit of kit, however the flue is a simple stainless steel pipe that exits the heater and travels up to the deck head looking very much like a nice hand hold, but is at approx 200 degrees C! The request was to make a heat shield out of stainless steel to …
Constrictor Jammer Blocks
These jammers were made for a small racing yacht. Each block has 4 receptacles for jammers and their control lines. The jammers themselves are made from 6061 Aluminum and the internal tapered ferrule from 316 stainless steel. The jamming 'sleeves' are from Technora – a high friction braided fabric sleeve that grips the rope, but does not damage it. The …
Line Diverter Block
This diverter block was required to change the lead angle of some lines led aft to a set of Spinlock clutches. The change in angle was slight, and deck space was tight in the chosen location so the part had to be more compact than a standard deck organiser with sheaves. The diverter also had to have the same hole …
Aluminum Deck Hatch
The yacht this hatch was for had an aluminum deck, however the hatch covering the lazarette was made in laminated plywood and overlaid in teak. The plywood had finally given up after 40 years, so a new hatch was needed. It was fabricated from 6mm 6061 aluminium plate and 25mm box section 5236 grade ali. The hinges were turned from …
